Category: wall light / sconce
Year designed: 2000
Originally one design from a large commission in 2000 for contemporary refurbishment of a private fort on the Channel Islands. Claro 1 was an application of modernist materials and principles for lighting a fortified building on a headland for domestic use and replicating the light effects of the sea inside the building. Hand made in simple and intricately crafted “negra” finished metalwork with thin blown hand rippled glass. Claro 1 is available in single and double version and can be produced to custom dimensions and in pairs or multiples on one backplate.
Claro means clear in Spanish as well as “of course” and the fixtures are often referred to as the natural and certain fixture for a setting almost as if they were expected.
